Edukasi Urban Farming Bagi Ibu Rumah Tangga Rt 02/Rw10 Desa Cisempur, Jatinangor, Sumedang

ABSTRAK

 

Urban farming muncul sebagai salah satu strategi pemberdayaan masyarakat untuk mengatasi ketahanan pangan dan kelestarian lingkungan di daerah perkotaan, terutama di daerah yang memiliki keterbatasan lahan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (pkm) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi urban farming kepada kaum ibu rumah tangga Desa Cisempur, Jatinangor. Metode pelaksanaan program terdiri dari edukasi penyuluhan dan praktik urban farming dengan menanam sayuran dalam polibag. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama bulan November hingga Desember 2024 bagi 18 orang ibu rumah tangga warga RT 02/RW 10, Desa Cisempur, Jatinangor Sumedang. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan 66,7% peserta menyatakan bahwa program yang diberikan sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat yang tidak memiliki halaman untuk mendapatkan sayuran segar. Sebanyak 80% peserta menyampaikan minat untuk menerapkan pengetahuan yang diperoleh dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Sebanyak 46,7% sangat tertarik untuk berpartisipasi pada program sejenis di masa mendatang. Umpan balik peserta memberikan informasi bahwa edukasi yang telah dilakukan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman tentang urban farming yang dapat diterapkan dengan mudah. Program ini juga berpotensi bermanfaat dalam penyediaan bahan pangan segar untuk konsumsi pribadi namun belum memberikan dampak ekonomi yang dapat dirasakan. Dukungan sarana serta kebijakan pemerintah setempat dapat menjadi upaya tindak lanjut agar program urban farming yang telah diinisiasi dapat menjadi sarana pemberdayaan masyarakat untuk ketahanan pangan lokal sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas lingkungan.

ABSTRACT

 

Urban farming emerged as one of the strategies to address food security, environmental sustainability, and community involvement in urban areas, especially in areas that have limited land. This community service activity (pkm) aimed to provide urban farming education to housewives in Cisempur Village, Jatinangor. The method of implementing the program consisted of counseling education and practice of urban farming by planting vegetables in polybags. The activities were carried out from November to December 2024 for 18 housewives from RT 02 / RW 10, Cisempur Village, Jatinangor Sumedang. The evaluation results showed that 66.7% of participants stated that the program was very useful for people who do not have a yard to get fresh vegetables. As many as 80% of participants expressed interest in applying the knowledge gained in their daily lives. 46.7% were very interested in participating in similar programs in the future. Participant feedback provided information that the carried-out education had increased knowledge and experience that urban farming can be applied easily. The program was also potentially useful in providing fresh food for personal consumption but has not yet provided a tangible economic impact. Supports of facilities and local government policies can be a follow-up effort for the urban farming program that has been initiated can be a means of empowering communities for local food security while improving environmental quality.
